A web application used by a major automotive company as their single point of contact for their customer, the dealers, needed a usability study to increase productivity. As client contact for the project I negotiated with the client for this work to be done and then became their point person. The scope of the group work included heuristic evaluations, surveys and usability studies which targeted users of the service tab, followed by appropriate recommendations.
Encourgaed by Prof. Mick McQuaid from the University of Michigan, this is an independent project based on my concept for a yoga site. After creating a series of sketches, a competitive analysis was performed on both local and regional yoga studios by site analysis and studio visits. Heuristic evaluations of those sites and data collected from clients of the studios were used to create personas and scenarios to target as the clients for this project site. From there a wireframe was designed as a basis for a low fidelity prototype, followed by a high fidelity prototype.
Working in a collaborative team environment, our group developed a solution to increase productivity for a local non-profit organization. To understand the needs of our client, we conducted several on-site interviews. Each thought from these interviews was broken down so that it stood on its own. Hundreds of notes were collected and built bottom up through several iterations of groupings, until we were able to recognize four significant areas which needed improvement. This tedious process allowed us to uncover many issues in brainstorming sessions. This data was modeled using work flow, cultural, swimming lane and other analysis tools to determine our recommendation that best suited the needs of this organization.
